Outcomes and results

The project developed, collected and made freely available teaching material for educating physicians and medical students in violence prevention and peace building. The outcomes and results include:

  • Seven self-running, case-oriented, and multi-media online courses including 380 multiple choice questions and 21 problem based e-learning cases
  • Medical Peace Work textbook, 2nd edition with seven independent but interlinked course e-books
  • Medical Peace Work CD-ROM with offline version of e-learning cases and textbook
  • More than 3 hours fresh film-material and video interviews to confront students with real and challenging situations, and to learn from experts from the field
  • Web-based information centre www.medicalpeacework.org presenting this new field, the partnership and all products of this project
  • Comprehensive resource databases with available information about field-relevant research and teaching possibilities, accessible teaching material, resource persons and vital references
  • Conceptual framing, testing, refinement and dissemination of Medical Peace Work
  • Scientific articles/chapters published in internationally recognised and recited medical journals and textbooks
  • 4 partner meetings and strengthening of European collaboration
  • International symposium in Tromsø in June 2007 and conference proceedings
  • Valorisation meeting and dialogue with reference group
  • Dissemination of Medical Peace Work in partner countries and internationally with announcements in national languages
  • Conference participation, presentation of Medical Peace Work, and networking
  • Building up a testers network and contact with end-users
