Course enrolment
The first time you enter one course room, you need to confirm that you wish to enrol yourself as a member of this course. You will then enter the virtual course room which has the following functions:
1 Forum
In the upper section you will find the discussion forum of this course. There you can start a discussion topic or reply to existing posts. You will automatically get informed about new post by email. If you do not like to receive discussion entries, you can unsubscribe from the forum.
2 Glossary
The glossary is also located in the upper part of the course room. There you can find explanations for important terms. Moreover, the terms from the glossary will also be highlighted in the course text. Once you roll the mouse over such a term, a question mark will appear. Click on it, and you can read the glossary explanation.
3 Evaluation
Each course room provides an evaluation scheme. We kindly ask you to fill in this anonymous feedback form after having finished the course.
4 Certificate
When you have passed the tests of each chapter (you need at least 75% of possible points), you can download and print out a MPW course certificate. The link to the certificate can be found at the upper part of the course room, too.
5 Facilitator
If you have a question or comment to the course content, please don’t hesitate to get in contact with the course facilitator.
6 Course
In the central area of the course room you can access the content of the course. It consists of several textbook chapters, e-cases and test questions.
We highly recommend that you first read one text book chapter, work then through the e-case(s) (where available), and complete then the chapter by answering the test questions.
6.1 Textbook chapters
The textbook chapters consist of various lessons. With the arrow keys on the right you can navigate from one lesson to another. Using the printer icon you can print the entire chapter or individual lessons.
6.2 E-cases
The problem-based e-learning cases present you a difficult real life situation. They contain sound and video material, for which you need a loudspeaker or headset. For being able to use the e-cases, a broad band internet connection is required, as well as the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (downloadable for free from the internet).
6.3 Test questions
The test questions consist of single choice (one answer correct) and multiple choice questions (several answers correct). Submitting your answers you will receive a feedback on how many points you reached. If you do not pass the tests, read the textbook chapter carefully, and try afterwards the same tests once again.
7 Menu blocks
On the right hand side of the course room, you can see menu blocks. They give you the following information:
